Zoltán Mátrai is a certified oncoplastic breast surgeon, specialized in general, thoracic and plastic surgery as well as clinical oncology. He is senior consultant at the Dept. of Oncoplastic Breast Surgery, Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar. Dr Mátrai was Head of Department of Breast and Soft Tissue Surgery (2012 – 2022) and Head of Centre of Surgical Oncology (2014-2022) at the National Institute of Oncology, Hungary. He is fellow, lecturer and examiner of the European Board of Surgery (UEMS/EBSQ/ESSO) in Surgical Oncology and Breast Surgery. He is co-founder of BRESO, member of the scientific board of the Oncoplastic Breast Consortium (OPBC) and EUBREAST. Furthermore, Dr Mátrai is founder and honorary president of the Central and Eastern European Breast Cancer Surgical Consortium (CEEBCSC) and past president of the Central Eastern European Academy of Oncology (CEEAO). He is past president of the Hungarian Society of Oncology (MOT). Dr Mátrai is member of the Johnson&Johnson Mentor Advisory Board EMEA. He had fellowships at Inst. Karolinska, Sweden, Royal Marsden, UK, Keyo Univ., Japan, St. Andrea Hospital, Italy. His current scientific interest is oncoplastic breast surgery and the treatment optimization of the axilla. He is a lecturer of several international conferences, as well editor of the textbook Principles and practice of oncoplastic breast surgery, published on English, Hungarian and Russian languages, and author or co-author of 109 scientific papers.
