Dr. Serife Simsek is a well-known specialist in breast cancer senology (both benign and malignant disease). She completed her surgical training and residency in Turkey and Italy, and is specialized in general surgery with a sub-specialization in breast cancer surgery. She attained a Master’s degree in Breast Cancer and Breast Cancer Surgery from the European Institute of Oncology and Milan University in Italy.
Dr. Simsek worked in Italy as an assistant to Prof. Umberto Veronesi, the founder of breast-conserving surgery for the treatment of breast cancer and inventor of the quadrantectomy and other conservative surgical techniques including sentinel lymph node biopsy. She later became an Associate Professor at Ankara University Hospital in Turkey, and worked in one of the largest private healthcare institutes in Istanbul for 11 years before moving to Dubai 7 years ago.
Dr. Simsek is highly skilled in conservative surgery, modi ed radical mastectomies, nipple-sparing mastectomies, skin-sparing mastectomies for breast cancer, and sentinel lymph node biopsies. She is also experienced in the removal of breast lumps such as broadenomas and phyllodes tumors, and in the use of ROLL/SNOLL techniques (Radio-Occult Lesion Localization for non-palpable breast lesions and sentinel lymph nodes). She has published numerous articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals and is a member of various surgical and scienti c institutions and non-pro t breast cancer organizations. She speaks Turkish, English, and Italian.
